Lehman's Collaboration with Intel: Towards a Bronx Science Fair

Lehman College was invited by the Intel Corporation to participate in its International Science and Engineering Fair and Educator Academy, held in Pittsburgh in May 2012. The Academy brings together educators from around the world to explore innovative methods of engaging students in the study of science and math. Intel has also provded Lehman with a planning grant to pilot a science fair program with five Bronx middle schools and high schools. This program, planned for early 2013, represents an important step in establishing robust science opportunities among the borough's students. The science fair is an important component of Lehman's initiatives in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as we open our wonderful new science building.  The science fair also provides great oppotunities for Lehman to partner with middle and high schools in the borough and we hope that the pilot will expand in future years.  Important dates for science fair particpants, teachers and mentors, as well as links, are below:

November 8th: Research Plan completed with your mentor

December 10th: Bronx Science Fair project papers due (Introduction, Methods, Preliminary Data, Discussion)

December 14th: NYCSEF Application Deadline

February 22: Bronx Science Fair @ Lehman College, New Science Building

March 3rd: NYCSEF Preliminary Round@ The Great Hall, Shepard Hall, City College of New York

March 19th: NYCSEF Finals@ Millstein Hall, AMNH

March 21st: NYCSEF Awards@ Gerald Theater, John Jay College

May 12th-17th: Intel International Science & Engineering Fair Week, Phoenix, AZ
