Welcome to Jean Geiger's blog about people and places at Lehman College! I want to share with you the sights and sounds here on campus. I may write about the people I meet or the things I see. Each post will be a little taste of what Lehman is like. I hope they will entice you to visit our historic campus or, if you are already part of the Lehman community, to see it with fresh eyes.
So I will start very simply. The first thing I look at each morning when I arrive at my office in Shuster Hall is the small tree outside my window.
"A small tree? Uh, gee, how interesting (not)," I hear you respond. Yes, just a small tree, improving my view of the Fine Arts building ramp. When my eyes start watering from working on CUNYfirst database preparation, I just turn to the tree to see squirrels, blue jays, cardinals, or the occasional mockingbird.
This little tree connects me to the rest of the campus. It reminds me to stroll along College Walk and enjoy the fiery colors of autumn. Right now, it's hinting that Spring is coming. Soon flowers and students will start popping up their heads to bask in the sun.
Yes, just a small tree. But it's my small piece of Lehman. What's yours?
