After a long week in
Johannesburg, South Africa, we finally got a little down time on June 10; enough time to share some of our wonderful experiences with all of you back home. The essence of Lehman L.I.F.E. is volunteering and trying to make a difference in the lives of others; I believe we did that during our volunteer experiences at two places here in South Africa: Nkosi's Haven, a center for children women and children with HIV/AIDS; and the Alexandra Society for the Aged, which despite its name, also serves the needs of poor children, in Johannesburg.
Today we toured Cape Town and tomorrow we’re looking forward to collaborate with college students from the University of Western Cape to see the work they are doing with the Mayibuye Archives. All in all, it was an amazing first few days.
