Lehman College's Multimedia Center/Lehman
Studios was thrilled to host The Mayor's Office of
Media and Entertainment (MOME) on Wednesday, March 20th,
for their renowned "Made in NY" panel discussions.
The panelists all had deep expertise as professionals in television
production. Moderated by Todd Asher, MOME's First Deputy
Commissioner (at the far left), the panel included (from left to

Earlier this month, we brought our Multimedia Center crew
together for a team photo in the studio. The whole team came
together - interns, students and staff - there was some learning,
some laughs, and of course, a few photos.
Using our jib camera, we captured a little behind-the-scenes
action of the setup and shoot along with a few of the final images
at the end of the video (as well as at the bottom of this
blog).
Check us out, comment and enjoy! And look for more behind-the
scenes...

The Lehman Multimedia Center was happy to welcome back a recent
graduate, Jeffrey Edison. For the
last two years, Jeffrey has been successfully working as a camera
operator for ESPN, in Bristol Connecticut. Luckily for us,
Jeffrey returned to meet with a small group of students and let
them pick his brain.

For over an hour, Jeffrey explained his role at ESPN - providing
an overview of his responsibilities, proper etiquette, and the
experience as a whole. The students had plenty of questions.

You know when you suddenly realize something profound about your
life or life itself and then you realize that before that moment
you were in darkness, it was like you had been in a cave? And now
you’re making a different decision than you’d planned on or even
imagined? That’s what Out From Plato’s Cave is about:
--what happens to you when you really learn, not just go through
the motions
--how ‘stepping out of the cave’ changes you and your life as you
knew it
--What you leave behind and what...

In 1992 BronxNet began training Lehman College students and the
general public in media production. These workshops took place as
the BronxNet TV studios were being set up on the campus in the
sub-basement of Carman Hall. 20 years later, BronxNet has
trained and provided services to almost four thousand students, and
thousands more of the general public. With tens of thousands
of programming hours produced, and thousands of careers launched,
this exemplary partnership between Lehman College...

Students at the Multimedia Center ask me all the time "where
can I get more experience in video/photo production?" and it's a
great question. The answer I always give is....
"everywhere." A friend once told me that "every moment is
learning moment" and I believe that applies to everyone. Whether
you're shooting video or photos on your iPhone or working as an
assistant to a professional there is always something you can take
away.
One of the best places to gain valuable
experience is online. ...

variety of recording sessions with Bronx Lab High School
(accompanied by music instructor Rian Wilkinson), Bronx High School
of Science and the High School for Contemporary Arts also located
here in the Bronx. Coordinated by Allan Molnar and the Lehman
College Music Department, students were given the opportunity to
spend the day here at Lehman College and experience...

It’s a coincidence that the official launch of the
Lehman College Blog takes place on Valentine’s Day. These two
events, however, do share something in common. When you get to
their true meaning, they are both about the idea of deep human
connections – and for me, that’s why blogs are significant. Time
will tell if our experiment with this blog is successful, and to
some degree, the answer rests with you!
What makes blogs and social media so powerful and why did we
initiate Blogs@Lehman? Jeff...
