First, let me say welcome back to everyone!!! I hope that everyone had a wonderful, relaxing and productive summer. As always, I will be keeping everyone posted on all of the new developments involving education, primarily public education here New York and throughout the country.
For those who are a little out of the loop, there have definitely been some interesting things going on in regards to education. One that I have to say that I'm very excited about is President Obama's Executive Order that established the creation of the African - American Education Office:
(From the Huffington Post)
President Obama announced plans for this executive order in a speech to the National Urban League this past July. The African - American Education Office is the coming together of educators, communities and federal agencies whose goals is to ensure that African - American students are better prepared and supported through high school, college and career.
I have to say that I am ecstatic about this and see it as our government moving in a direction that truly is geared to providing all children with positive and effective educational opportunities.
So, please feel free to share your ideas and comments in this latest development. Do you also feel that this is good for education or do you have reservations and why?... Until next time...
