At the 12 CUNY IT conference this past December I had the pleasure to give a presentation together with David Stevens, Manager of Web Services, Lehman College and Gerlando Termini, Web Developer, Lehman College about our work in the development of Lehman's website.
A key goal at Lehman is to ensure that our students have access to the technologies and resources they need in a world that is increasingly fast-paced, mobile and hyper-connected. We are pleased to share several planned technology initiatives as Lehman's spring semester gets underway. These projects reflect a collaborative effort across campus departments to enhance student success:
1) Our Mobile Printing pilot is now available to all students. This initiative allows students to launch a...Read More »
I've enjoyed my time at here at Lehman College. When transferring from Bronx Community College, Lehman was my first choice and I've not even come close to regretting it. The teachers here have been great - several of them being very capable and focused on making the material understandable to all students. One of them even helped me get the job I have today, which I enjoy due to the exposure to new technologies that I've never seen before. I've enjoyed the experiences I've been acquiring...Rea... Working as a College Assistant at the Leonard Lief Library has given me the opportunity to gain valuable experience. Also, working with the Library Technical Coordinator for three years has been remarkable. In education, we are using technology to make studies easier and I am able to see how the advances in technology help students in their learning. By helping students with their use of computers, projectors, laptops, PowerPoint presentations, the web, Smart Boards, word processing,...Read More »
Have you noticed barcode lookalike squares in the subway or in print magazine ads?
In 1992 BronxNet began training Lehman College students and the general public in media production. These workshops took place as the BronxNet TV studios were being set up on the campus in the sub-basement of Carman Hall. 20 years later, BronxNet has trained and provided services to almost four thousand students, and thousands more of the general public. With tens of thousands of programming hours produced, and thousands of careers launched, this exemplary partnership between Lehman College...R... Read More »
Effective organizations have systems and tools in place that enable them to serve their customers efficiently and reliably. Lehman recently launched two new systems that will help us better serve our students.

Technology is all about innovation. The Post-It and the iPad both created a market for something that people did not realize they needed. Now, we can’t imagine living without these products.
But innovation is not easy. It takes many tries. It takes perseverance. It requires passion and teamwork to achieve a goal.
In the IT Division, our mission is to Deliver, Lead and Innovate. We have a fabulous group of dedicated professionals who strive to improve the technology that supports Lehman’s...Re... Read More »
I have joined the community of librarians at Lehman who provide reference through the 24/7 Chat service. I like to think of this service as a virtual reference desk that never closes. On 24/7 Chat students pose questions online and librarians help students learn how to find responses to their questions. Inquiries come from Lehman students, from CUNY students, and from students all over the country and the world and they can be about library policy and procedures (“How do I put a book on...Read More »
Getting a job at a Help Desk is frequently the entry level job in your IT career. As a Computer Information Systems (CIS) major at Lehman working for the Help Desk is giving me the opportunity to gain valuable experience before I graduate and enter the workforce. It is essential to be knowledgeable in computers, software, hardware, and common products. I have recognized that customer service skills are essential in this position, and are a determining factor in one’s effectiveness and overall...R... Read More »
What was I thinking? That was the thought that ran through my mind as I began developing the content for my new IBA course in Lehman’s Adult Degree Program. My challenge: How do I develop a course that is not overly intrusive, allows students to understand changing communication styles, and engages the student in an exploration and evaluation of social media sites?
As I began developing the course content, I reflected upon the traditional communication process and the normal “buzz...Read More »... Read More »
Welcome to the Multimedia Center/Lehman Studios

It’s a coincidence that the official launch of the
Lehman College Blog takes place on Valentine’s Day. These two
events, however, do share something in common. When you get to
their true meaning, they are both about the idea of deep human
connections – and for me, that’s why blogs are significant. Time
will tell if our experiment with this blog is successful, and to
some degree, the answer rests with you!
What makes blogs and social media so powerful and why did we initiate Blogs@Lehman? Jeff.....
